Shot By A Tennis Ball

On the afternoon of April 9, Mindy was enjoying a friendly game of tennis when a PENN #3 tennis ball made direct contact with her left eye. The suspect charged of hitting the ball is not being identified at this time. But nevertheless she was whisked to the emergency room at IMC. They brought her right in and started working on her.

She was diagnosed with an 80% hyphema, a corneal abrasion, an orbital fracture and bleeding behind her eye. While the name of the person who hit the ball cannot be released at this time, we can conclude it was either Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal.

Don't underestimate the powerful and destructive force of a tennis ball. Mindy had one surgery to remove blood from behind the eye, as well as another surgery to repair the fractured plate below her eye. We thought she was in the clear last week when she went in for a check up and was informed that she had a detached retina. That required immediate action of a freezing treatment and gas bubble in her eye. Don't take your vision for granted!

Sand Hollow Triathlon

Brady did the St. George Olympic Distance Triathlon and set his personal best time.

28 minute swim • 1 hour, 1 minute on the bike • 46 minute run • total of 2 hours 21 minutes.

Tsunami in Hawaii

We were fortunate enough to go to Hawaii in March and it was a much needed escape from Winter. Unfortunately we were standing right on the sidewalk when this wave hit and kind of got the "dishwasher" effect.

While we didn't see any waves the size we associate with tsunamis, we were ordered to leave our condo on our last night there and head for higher ground. This was the day of the major earthquake & tsunamis in Japan. We left the second time we were asked at 1 AM and drove to the top of Mauna Kea where we watched the sun rise.

We climbed Teewinot in the Teton range. Luckily we were able to miss a set of storms that rolled through and nobody fell off the mountain. Happy 2 year anniversary to us!

I'm sure when the disaster relief crew came that night, they were so happy to see we were equipped with a mop and a bucket. What great flood tools! We thought taking 3 of these full buckets out of the basement really helped but when they saw the place they couldn't even tell we'd done a thing.
I thought the place just needed a good mop and some fans 24/7. Little did we know they would soon be ripping out carpet and kitchen cabinets over Christmas break! It's been a wet one!
My house always looks ridiculous, yet I post the darn pictures. This was our only sign of Christmas in the flooded place....besides the tree??

Ya, this was the tree...a Charlie Brown Christmas tree...maybe it was because of the flood, maybe the recession...maybe I didn't want another natural disaster in the house like the lights starting a fire.

Except for the ute

Brady listens to my complaints! I always complain I can't shave my legs in the winter because I have huge goosebumps in the shower so he got me "Smooth Away." Ever heard of it? Don't get it. It's just a good dry skin remover.

I collect old fashion post cards and Brady helped out the collection. So fun!

We pulled all the mattresses out into the family room

We got an awesome new member in the fam! CJ. Beautiful Brooke got married! You're probably thinking I've finally learned to take quality pictures but don't be deceived...I still don't know. This is creative and talented JohannaLeePhotography's picture. It's my sister in law. check out her website!! I was so happy Brooke trusted me to do her hair and make her hair flower which I was so excited to do!

The wedding was at the SL Hardware Building. It was beautiful! They are a stunning couple and us cousins were so lucky to be bridesmaids! (A side note: I have wanted a serger for years...never knew anyone knew that....one day my aunt, Brooke's mom called and said, "I'm coming by"...she didn't just come by...she bought me a serger saying thanks for the wedding help...I was so so so excited and still look in my sewing room to make sure that really happened. I still can't believe it)

We said goodbye to Kevin for 2 yrs. It was a wet day as well....flooding of tears. My older brothers and husband served a mission under my watch but now that I'm older, or maybe more selfish, 2 years just seems like eternity. I know it will go fast....

GRAND CANYON rim to rim

This place is one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

We hiked from the North rim to the South totaling 23.9 miles. I kept looking up from where we were hiking and it was shear cliffs everywhere. I thought there was no way we could hike out of there.

This was real good. 3 miles into the hike I told Brady I needed to quickly stop and take a rock out of my shoe. Well it wasn't a rock it was 4 blisters. My fat big toe was rubbing the other toe for some reason. My toes stung the whole hike.

Here's the crew! We all survived. Laurie, Linda, Emi, Me, Brady. Linda's mom Ginny was the driver. To make this hike possible Ginny drove 5 hrs to the other rim to pick us up.

We finished 23.9 miles!!

After the hike we went to the Utah UNLV game in vegas. We could barely stand up and cheer our legs were so sore. This is Tanner on Brady's lap. He is THE cutest kid. Anytime music came on he would start dancing. The whole portal was watching him dance.

Brady and Mike went to New York!!

The Dunns on the Muss Buss to Oregon. I was going till I found out we would be in a bus for 11 hrs straight there and back. I get car sick, bus sick, boat sick, motion sick, sometimes utah sick.
The Fair. I took my Nephews and Natsy's cute friends because Brady was in New York. We saw a huge pig and it made me kind of sick smelling it and seeing 3,000 flies on it's back. "Isn't it amazing you feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon."(Tribute to Jim Gaffigan)

with the Wag fam and had to share a double
bed with Kevin! They cuddled all night and
had In and Out for every meal. The trip was
worth it for him, the utes did well, he got
dirtiest go-cart rider award , and he didn't
even wet his pants on the Stratosphere ride.

Liz and Kim gave us a gift certificate for a night
at the Hotel Monaco. We ate at the hotel restaraunt,
hot tubbed at the Hilton, and had a great time.

We are stoked for the showdown on November 22. While we are still very nervous about the 'team down south', it is wonderful to know that Mindy is a die hard Ute now. I can't keep the face paint off of her she loves it so much.

We got the great deal at Knott's where you only pay for two hours so we paid and the rest of the time was spent running from ride to ride. We looked more excited to be there than the 10 year old kids. We made it on every ride and we look soaked in this picture cause we had to do the tubing ride where they basically drop your tube off this cliff and splash ya to death.

HOT DOGS! But not so hot..we went camping in 30 degree weather! We just had to try out the new camping gear we got. The trailhead sign showed a campfire and a tent crossed out with a red line. We didn't understand so we pitched our tent and made a bonfire to keep warm.
